Preston's First Bed...

Preston's original bed was the highlight of the house tours. Preston would jump in and turn on all the lights, switches, blinkers, radio and honk the air horns.

Sadly, he outgrew dads idea of being in this bed until he was 18. Thus, dad packed up the bed and stored it outside--hopefully knowing that someday he may get to put it back together for a grandchild.

Preston's New Bed...

We had just built new cabinets for the kids rooms replacing the outdated closets that they had for years. The tools were already in place in the garage so it was clear to see that dad might as well kick out a water bed for Preston. His new waterbed design began in Nov. of 2001.
The bed took about a week to build. We painted the room and began to install the bed. However, part of the bed would not fit down the hallway and into his room. Greg hadn't planned on this. Thank goodness it fit through the window.
Although Preston misses his diesel bed, he knows he is growing up and does his best to like the new bed. Over time, he has gotten better at not missing his old bed as much.

What he likes most about his new bed is the storage. He has six huge drawers under his bed, great shelves for display on his headboard, and an awesome desk.

Soon after the bed was made, mom informed dad that Preston needed a desk to match. Dad went back to the drawing board and came up with a desk to match the design of the bed.

Preston has been a collector since he was a little boy. From bubble gum wrappers to rubber bands, mom never knew just what she would find in Preston's diesel bed. This new desk provided the answer with lots of drawers to keep his treasures organized and out of sight.
