GRADUATION 1998 On Wednesday, May 20, 1998, Rocking Double H Preschool commenced their 1998 preschool graduation. Included in the graduating class were Brooklyn and Preston Lindsey. Their parents, Greg and Susan Lindsey, were very proud of this occasion. Mr. Lindsey was glad to see his children graduate. When asked what was so special about the occasion, he grinned. It was his job to take the children to and from class five days a week. As Preston moves on, he would only have to take Brooklyn three times a week to preschool. Even though he enjoyed the driving time with his kids, he said he was glad the summer break was coming. Mrs. Lindsey, when asked the same question, said that she too was glad to see her children graduate. She was very anxious about having a whole summer break to enjoy with them. Her plans this summer would be to take them swimming, take them to the library, take them on picnics and to enjoy them every moment. Also attending the graduation were Preston and Brooklyn's grandparents, Randall and Betty Jo. Granny Louise and aunt Jan were also seen sitting in front. The graduation started with a selection from "It's a Small, Small World" instead of the traditional graduation song. The graduates marched to this song and sat down in front of their audience. The Tuesday/Thursday class was first to receive their diploma. The diploma packet consisted of a photo album of each student's activities during the year. Also included was a series of pages which measured their growth in size and coordination skills throughout the year. Once the Tuesday/Thursday class had received their diploma, the Monday/Wednesday/Friday class had their turn. Preston was seen, just seconds before his name was called, showing his class friends his missing tooth that he had lost the night before. Each graduating class then performed a selected song and dance routine. The Tuesday/Thursday class performed "Hey Diddle Diddle" and the M-W-F class performed their routine to "Peanut Butter". This reporter gives both routines "Two Thumbs Up". After closing remarks, refreshments were served. Preston will be moving on to Dorthy Stinson school next year where he will attend kindergarten. Brooklyn will be returning to the Rocking Double H Preschool for one more year of exciting activities. After graduation, Brooklyn and Preston returned to their grandma's house for cake and ice cream. It was over heard that it took Preston two hours to pick out the graduation cake making sure that it had just the right touches. |
Brooklyn and Preston's class of 1998 took time out to take a class picture. The playground set in the background was their favorite place to play.
As Mrs. Doris called each of their names, Brooklyn and Preston both received their graduation packets. Even though they did not move their tassels to the other side of their hat, they still officially graduated. The best moment during the ceremony came from the musical routine performed by each graduating class. Brooklyn, dancing to "Hey Diddle Diddle" ,was terrific at swaying her hips. Preston, dancing to "Peanut Butter", had the rhythm while jumping and turning. There could possibly be a remake of the "Blue's Brothers" if Preston could play the harmonica in the future. After graduation, we all returned to grandma's house for more cake and ice cream. Preston had picked out the cake for graduation. He made sure it was to his liking in terms of flavor and color. Brooklyn did a wonderful job serving cake and ice cream to granny and grandma.
