Though Disneyland was surrounded by change, some things will always be the same. Main Street USA welcomed us as it has for years. Susan was excited to be able to spend at least one day with the kids at Disneyland. She had fun with them on Wednesday, and was even able to spend some time Saturday afternoon. Thursday they were on their own with dad and had a great time exploring the park. Brooklyn insisted on stopping in front of her favorite place, the castle, for a picture with her brother.

Here are a few shots of activities in and around Main Street, U.S.A.

Taking time to enjoy Main Street, Greg, Preston and Brooklyn have fun riding on the double decker bus. Between eating popcorn and hooking the horn, Brooklyn is set for a great ride.

Though driving was fun, riding on top provided the best view. Riding from one end of Main Street to the other, the kids enjoyed sampling the different riding vehicles.

As traditional as the castle, the Mattahorn always sounds scarier than it is. Unsure and a little nervous, Preston agrees to ride only if he can be sure mom will ride by him. Of course once he ride and realizes how much fun it is, he is the first to want to ride again. Greg always adds adventure to the ride as he attempts to videotape throughout the ride.

Now that Preston and Brooklyn are old enough to take pictures, Greg and Susan actually get into some of the pictures. It’s nice to know we were actually along on some of these trips. Now we just have to worry about who gets to take the pictures!

Enjoying another mode of transportation down Main Street, Preston and Brooklyn meet Oscar. The man caring for him here rides on the back of the cart while a young pretty woman actually drives Oscar. Preston made sure Susan knew that Greg sure enjoyed talking to Oscar’s driver as they went down Main Street. Of course Greg claims it was just because she was a Cardinals fan! Yea right!

Though the streets were lined with people, we managed to find a great viewing spot right off of the castle. The parade was filled with princesses and Brooklyn was thrilled to see Ariel, Cinderella, and even Bell.

Even Tarzan had joined the parade, here riding on his golden elephant.

One thing we hadn’t seen at Disneyland was Animations. It was a great stage show reviewing many of the kid’s favorite Disney shows. Besides being a fantastic show, it provided a great place to rest our feet and get warm.

Featuring Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notradame, Lion King, and many more, we were all impressed by the creative music and wonderful performance of Animations. After the show grandpa was a little too cold and tired to stay for the fireworks, so Greg and grandpa headed back to the hotel while Susan, Preston and Brooklyn spent time in Toon Town and then found a front row seat for the evening parade and fireworks show. Keeping warm snuggling together and eating popcorn, it wasn’t long before the parade started. After the parade, culminating the fireworks show, snow fell from the rooftops of Main Street. Only the magic of Disney can make it snow is southern California.
